App Store Description

The app is a simple to use moon-planting calendar and has a bigger and elder sibling in the hardcopy Antipodean Astro Calendar which has been published annually by Brian Keats since 1987.
The app works with 3 different lunar rhythms whereas the Antipodean offers a much more comprehensive picture with the sun, planets and zodiac as well as the moon rhythms.

BioGarden is a simple to use moon-planting calendar tool that adjust for both time zone and hemisphere and was initially developed as a quick reference tool for those interested as to when their wine might taste best. The biodynamic calendar is a very familiar concept to people who work in wine, and has been so for decades.

The biodynamic calendar is used by biodynamic farmers to determine the optimum days for sowing, pruning, and harvesting, based on the rhythms of the sun, moon, planets and constellations.

This app only uses the moon and constellations component. The lunar month is divided into days that are characterised as fruit, flower, leaf or root; depending on these astronomical relationships.

From a wine lover's perspective, the theory is that wine will show at its best with more flavour on certain days. In this App the best days for tasting wine are indicated by the wine glass symbol.

The Calendar shows what days are best for what activity when the plant is considered in a four-fold way: Fruit/Seed, Flower, Leaf and Root. In our gardening or farming activities we can place a greater emphasis on any of these parts to suit our particular needs.
