Brisk is new writing interpreting program being developed at the HLF Briskeby competence center in Lier. The new program will offer a fully digitalized and wireless platform for writing the interpretation. Brisk means "active and energetic" in English, and are two of the key features a writing interpreter must possess.
More and more people need facilitation in communication with the help of hearing aids. One of the tools that are experiencing growth in use is writing the interpretation.
As the need for writing interpreting increases, so does the need for good working tools that facilitate the working life of the writing interpreter and increase the availability of the writing interpreter users.
Writing interpreters today use long lists of auto-corrections, which can be thousands of words. It is quite impossible to remember them all, so essential auto-corrections that are important to remember are written down on paper, categorized by theme, and collected in large ring binders. In Brisk, the glossaries will be categorized and displayed on the screen while the typewriter is typing - without users seeing it. In addition, it will be possible for the writing interpreters to make use of dictionary sharing, so that each writing interpreter can use his / her own auto-corrections, thus avoiding the need to write errors because the co-interpreter again has his own auto-corrections.
Today's writing interpreters use projectors or external displays with expensive third-party solutions to show user interpretation. Why so, when today's users even go with a screen in their pocket? Brisk will, therefore, implement the ability to send text wirelessly to the associated app on smartphone/tablet/laptop, via Bluetooth. A wireless solution already exists in the market, but only an IR solution that requires a USB transmitter and receiver.
With Brisk, you will eventually not need expensive, third-party enhancement on writing interpreting assignments.
In Brisk, it will be possible to write up to nine writing interpreters at once, which can be useful if it is to be interpreted in several languages. It will be possible to color-code who speaks, so the change of speech becomes more apparent. A script function will also be entered so that pre-written speeches etc. can be entered line by line in advance.
