Initially served as Indonesian central bank, to date BNI has evolved to become one of largest commercial bank of Indonesia in terms of assets, lending and third party funds. BNI provides various financial services and is supported by its subsidiaries in sharia banking, financing, capital market, as well as insurance. BNI is the first state-owned bank to go public on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). As of 2012, BNI already had 1,693 domestic branches and five overseas branches in New York, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore.
