App Store Description

The Bundian Way drive app will immerse you in Aboriginal shared history of the Monaro landscape in and about Delegate in south eastern NSW, 35 kilometres from Bombala, and 9 kilometres from the Victorian border, at the halfway point in the walk from the sea to the highest point of the continent.

This app is an introduction to the district and its many-layered history. Visit the Bundian Way Aboriginal Art Gallery in the centre of Delegate, learn about its first people and the Early Settlers Hut, the Big Rock, the History Museum and follow the ancient route to Craigie and learn about interactions between Chinese gold prospectors and Aboriginal people, their history and culture.

The Bundian Way is a shared history pathway between the high country of Kosciuszko National Park and Bilgalera (Fisheries Beach) that connects the highest part of the Australian continent and the coast. On its way to the coast, the Bundian Way crosses the Snowy River and passes through some of the wildest, most rugged and yet beautiful country in Australia. In many parts, the influence of the old land management is still obvious in its Aboriginal landscapes. It is the first Aboriginal pathway to be listed on the NSW State Heritage Register.

Over a distance of some 365km, it follows an ancient Aboriginal walking route by way of the easiest path from the Monaro to the coastal plains, the Bundian Pass. Its recognition was inspired by G.A. Robinson’s story of Al.mil.gong, who walked all the way from Omeo to present his new corroboree to his kin at Bilgalera on 14th August 1844.

The 390 kilometer route will be opening for walkers soon, probably section by section as appropriate infrastructure is installed. It is managed by the Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council, with the assistance of Delegate Progress Association in this district and many other land agencies

Information is available at the gallery at 6458 8388

Please also visit the Story Walk on Twofold Bay near Eden. Guided cultural tours coming soon, please check for the latest information at bundianway.com.au or email info@bundianway.com.au
