bythefire: a project to write poems with feeling

In an era where feelings are okay, we make feelings shareable. bythefire harkens back to older times - sitting by the flames and telling stories of the day. This is the first digital fire of our age.

The project: be "by the fire", which means to feel and then to write. The goal is to bring poems back and use them as a tool to write with feeling.

Write: Here, poems are called "embers" - living pieces that can be given to others. With each ember added to another, these embers grow stronger. Express yourself fully by recording your voice reading your poems, adding images, and giving color to your words. Listen as others share their voices too, bringing embers to life through spoken word.

Connect: When you create an ember, you begin anonymous. Others can read your poem, but they don't know it's you. As others join your ember with their own, identities emerge naturally - just as you won't see who sits by a fire until you're close to it, you don't know who is by the fire until you join it.
