App Store Description
The NRSV Bible and three classic commentaries at your fingertips!
This app brings you the popular and respected New Revised Standard Version of the Bible together with three classic commentaries:
- The Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible by Robert Jamieson, A.R. Fausset, and David Brown
- Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary by Matthew Henry (an abridgment of the six volume "Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Whole Bible")
- John Wesley's Notes on the Bible
This app allows you to quickly navigate to any book and chapter of the Bible, viewing it with full formatting and footnotes as you are used to seeing it in print. To view commentaries on the chapter, simply touch the commentary button. It's an easy, convenient way to carry Bible commentaries with you wherever you go.
The Jamieson-Fausset-Brown commentary is one of the best conservative commentaries on the entire Bible—clear, concise, insightful, and relatively free of denominational agenda. Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary is an abridgement of one of the most popular commentaries of all time, a commentary known for warm, encouraging exposition. Wesley's Notes on the Bible brings Wesley's inimitable spirit to Bible commentary. These three classic commentaries have a history of building up the church since the difficult times in which they were written.
The NRSV Bible and the Bible commentaries are fully searchable. This full-featured app includes five different font size options. Portrait and landscape reading modes are supported, and the orientation can be locked to one or the other. The bookmarking capability includes the ability to organize your bookmarks within a book by reordering them. All these features and an exceptionally clean interface make both reading and browsing easy.
With the NRSV Bible, all of the standard NRSV features are supported including the notes. The app remembers your location in each book so you can immediately pick up where you left off. Navigation is easy through the hierarchical table of contents. Scripture references are linked, so you can view referenced passages in a slide-up window.
Navigation of all the books is easy. You can scroll up and down within a section and swipe or tap to turn the page. All books are included in the original install, so an Internet connection is not required to use the application.
This app is also available with the KJV/ASV versions of the Bible instead of the NRSV.
For anyone interested in studying the Bible alongside many insightful commentaries, this app is a great tool.
The NRSV is licensed through Harper Collins Publishers.
