What is the objective of the C Levels Vocab app?

This app – C Levels Vocab - is designed to help learners of English check their knowledge of the most frequently occurring words. The words presented in C Levels Vocab have been carefully selected from a large spoken corpus (a large collection of spoken words). Knowing the most frequently occurring words in English is very important because these words are used very often.

What is a C level?

A C level is a group of 100 words (C is the Roman numeral for 100). The 100 words in each C level are ordered from most frequent to least frequent. So, at first words will be easy, but they’ll gradually get more difficult as you use the app.

How do I complete the C levels?

Each target word of each C level has a contextual sentence. When you click play, you will hear the sentence spoken in full. You will also see the sentence written, excluding the target word. The number of letters of each target word will be shown with blank spaces.

You simply need to write the correct word in the blank space. On each attempt, you have 4 chances to listen to and write each word. Don’t worry! - unknown words will be cycled and presented to you as many times you need. However, to show that you ‘know’ each word, and to move past that word, you must write the word correctly on the first time it is heard for a given attempt. Good luck!
