Softmatic Cosmic will not only display over 100'000 stars with detailed info on spectral class, distance and magnitude. Also available are the Messier and NGC catalogues with almost 7'000 deep sky objects and of course our solar system bodies.

Cosmic uses the latest OpenGL ES technology for an immersive user experience, a fluid and responsive interface, and a stunningly beautiful, yet astronomically correct display. Stars are rendered as lit spheres of different sizes in their actual spectral color, with special indicators for binary or variable objects.

Stars can easily be found and sorted by their common name ("Sirius"), the Bayer designation ("? CMa"), the Flamsteed number ("9 CMa"), or the catalogue number ("HIP 32349"). With DSOs, you can search and sort by name ("Andromeda Galaxy"), Messier number ("M31") or NGC number ("NGC 224"). Constellations can be searched for by the english name ("Big Dipper") or the latin name ("Ursa Maior"). Cosmic uses sqlite for very fast, almost immediate search.

After you've selected an object, view detailed info (e.g. rise and set times, azimuth and elevation, apparent magnitude etc.) or center the object in the field of view. Cosmic also comes with several hundred beautiful astronomical images for all Messier objects, many NGC objects and all planets. For each object, be it a star, a DSO or a solar system body, a direct gateway to additional information online is also provided.

Cosmic lets you define mutiple observing sites; simply pick the location from a map, from the list of over 15'000 cities world wide or by using the location services of your device.

Exclusive to Cosmic: With iOS 4.2 or higher you can print detailed star charts to any Air Print compatible printer in A4, letter or 4x6" format.
