What is it about?

The launch of this application comes as a result of a fruitful cooperation that aims to enhance national efforts and social responsibility. The application is the first at the international level which provides an emergency number video platform developed for deaf people to offer free video calls, to enable them to report emergencies from all mobile networks in Jordan. This application is a continuation of the development of the emergency line project for the deaf (114), which came in implementation of the initiatives of the specialized working group to enable persons with disabilities to access telecommunications and information technology services. This project was developed by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) as part of the “Stronger with You” initiative, in cooperation with the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), with the support of telecommunications operators Zain, Orange and Umniah.

App Store Description

It is worth noting that TRC had formed a specialized working group to enable persons with disabilities to access telecommunications and information technology services in 2018, chaired by TRC, and with the membership of the HCD, Zain, Orange, Umniah, Information and Communications Technology Association (Int@j), Jordanian Coalition for Persons with Disabilities, Cultural Forum for the Blind, in addition to representatives of persons with hearing, visual and physical disabilities, to unite efforts and exchange knowledge and experiences to come up with a unified and achievable plan to implement initiatives and projects directed towards persons with disabilities, and ensure accelerating and facilitating their access to telecommunications and information technology’s means and services. The emergency line development project came as a continuation of what was provided by the PSD in 2014 in cooperation with the HCD with the support of Zain, to enable the deaf to access emergency and rescue services through video calls in sign language at the toll-free number 114.
