空间段由若干地球静止轨道卫星、倾斜地球同步轨道卫星和中圆地球轨道卫星组成。
地面段包括主控站、时间同步/注入站和监测站等若干地面站，以及星间链路运行管理设施。
用户段包括北斗及兼容其他卫星导航系统的芯片、模块、天线等基础产品，以及终端设备、应用系统与应用服务等。
1、短报文通信：北斗bai系统用户终端具有双向du报文通信功能，用户可以一次传送40-60个汉字的短报文信息。
2、精密授时：北斗系统具有精密授时功能，可向用户提供20ns-100ns时间同步精度。
3、定位精度：水平精度100米（1σ），设立标校站之后为20米（类似差分状态）。
4、系统容纳的最大用户数：540000户/小时。
