Chinese Union Version with New Punctuation (CUNP) was published in 1988. The United Bible Societies organized a team of Bible scholars, translation experts and editorial professionals to implement the revision. Its features include using contemporary punctuations and contemporary names of places and people. Hong Kong Bible Society is the copyright agent of CUNP.
新标点和合本于1988年出版，由联合圣经公会组织一队圣经学者、翻译顾问及编辑人员，展开修订。其特点是以一般现代通用的标点符号代替所用的旧标点；以及使用现代通用的人名和地名，如士班雅改为西班牙。和合本的版权由香港圣经公会代理。和合本分為「上帝」版和「神」版，区别在於上帝版的經文中出現「上帝」的地方，神版都用「神」前加空格代替。因為對於基督教的至高主宰，中文應該翻譯為「上帝」還是「神」，晚清的西方宣教士爭論了幾十年仍未解決，和合本便採用這種折衷方法。
