「新眼光」讀經運動的起源是亞洲基督教協會（CCA）所發起的一個讀經運動 Reading the Bible with New Eyes。台灣基督長老教會1998年起，就接納此一讀經運動為總會性宣教運動的一個重要項目，並透過聖經信息出版來落實推行。新眼光讀經運動除了接軌普世教會，更是落實情境中宣教的行動，尤其是對教會在第三世界的宣教具有重要的啟發與貢獻，這是值得台灣基督徒大力參與及推展的一個深化信仰、活出見證的宣教運動。
