极信通信旨在依托国美集团传统家电零售领域的渠道资源优势，以国美全国1600余家遍布全国的线下实体门店为业务延展触角，进一步对国美用户进行再细分，以期更好的服务消费者。
在国美推行O2M全渠道运营战略即“线下实体店+线上电商+移动终端”的组合式运营模式的过程中，移动通信的服务能力是O2M战略的重要组成及延伸。
“极信通信”将采用170号段为消费者服务，其中“1700”为中国电信的转售号码标识，支持CDMA2000、CDMA1X手机；“1705”为中国移动，支持TD-LTE、TD-SCDMA、GSM制式手机；而“1709”则为中国联通，支持WCDMA、GSM制式手机。
