水浒外传有声书，其中加入了不少民间传说，如“武松大闹平夙岭”、“时迁火烧少林寺”等，是原《水浒传》的延伸和补充。此书主要讲述武松路经平凤岭少林寺，少林寺僧人发现武松所穿的行者服饰和度牒乃是寺中失踪多年的广惠长老所有，原来当年武松血溅鸳鸯楼后，张青、孙二娘将麻翻的一个头陀的行者服饰送给武松，原来那被张青夫妇麻翻的头陀正是少林寺僧人广惠。少林寺僧人因此误以为广惠长老被武松所害，所以欲加害武松，武松只身大闹少林寺，引出少林寺设摆擂台与梁山好汉赌斗输赢等精彩内容。该书大大补充了评书的表现内容。
