About this App
“Touring Japan with Ukiyoe” is a smartphone application that shows on a contemporary map the approximate locations of places depicted in ukiyoe. Use it to rediscover the appeal of ukiyoe while comparing how streets looked then and today.
The location information displayed in this app is based on ukiyoe-holding museums’ databases. We expect the number of ukiyoe pieces and cooperating museums to gradually increase, and users can therefore look forward to the occasional new discovery when reopening the app.
While this app was developed so that users can experience Japan’s remarkable ukiyoe, don't forget that seeing the real thing is the best way to delve into their depths. On the ukiyoe information screens one finds a link to the homepage of the museum at which the piece is held. If you like it, while not plan a trip to see it for yourself?
