Eco Maramures - for a lovely trip in the the land of southwestern Historical Maramures, certified as an eco-destination: Mara-Cosau-Creasta Cocosului.
Forget about the pile of printed brochures, leaflets and maps. Now you have them all in the phone in your pocket. The mobile app provides an easy user interface for all tourists who are interested in traveling through this unspoiled area of Maramures. With online maps and information about the routes and points of interests, Eco Maramures can be used as guide for your trip.
How it works
First of all, you choose a point of interest within the ecotourism destination from the app's menu and the app will find the shortest route to your chosen location. After you activate your GPS location of your device, you will be able to see your current location on the map. Once you reach the destination, just take your bike or rent one from one from a cycling-friendly guesthouse and choose the desired bicycle route to go. On the way you can stop at any point of interest which appears on the map.
A harmonious play of volcanic mountains, verdant hills, rivers, lakes, forests, meadows, houses and households, costumes, traditions and occupations forgotten by others, the settlements on Mara and Cosău became in 2014 a part of the Mara-Cosau-Creasta Cocosului ecotourism destination, one of the first two of its kind in Romania.
