App Store Description
EmergencyIQ, (EIQ) is an application and web based system that provides the tools for
individuals, groups, businesses and other entities to prepare for, manage and recover from
emergencies. EIQ is based in Austin, Texas and is owned 100% by U.S. citizens and residents.
EIQ is not affiliated with any local law enforcement group.
Notification of emergencies go only to groups which individual users authorize. For example,
an employee may report an emergency to a work group, or disaster recovery team, to which
she/he belongs; a student may report an active shooter to her parents and the school’s
principal or security personnel if both the school and the student agree to share the
information (her emergency contact); a young adult may report a car accident to his/her
parents directly from the app, share his/her geolocation, send pictures, or establish a private
chat with the parents, centered around the accident reported.
EIQ has two primary target groups. One is small family groups that want to keep in contact
with each other in the context of emergencies. The other is small to medium-size businesses
that must develop, implement and use a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery
Plan (DRP).
Through the mobile-based application family members can report emergencies to one another
and generally coordinate their recovery and share pictures, videos or audio of the emergency.
If a DR plan has been created in anticipation of the emergency the plan will appear when the
emergency materializes.
Through the mobile App and the web based system, Business can engage in more complex
planning, notification, and deployment of formal BCP or DRPs. Businesses can create disaster
recovery teams and assign specific functions to each team members. An administrator can
track when tasks are completed and those that are pending. They can test the plan in drill
mode to ensure that each member is trained in the performance of their emergency functions,
which generally vary from their daily task and therefore require the plan and its testing.
Reports can be generated from the system to identify weaknesses in the BCP or DRP when used
in drill mode.
Different businesses, work groups or school settings can use the app to communicate
communal emergencies and equally manage the disaster or emergency reported.
The main features of the App are as follows:
- Creation of plans to deal with emergencies before they occur
- Deployment of emergency or contingency plan when the emergency actually occurs
- Creation of direct means of communicating emergencies
- Sharing of geolocation of user in the context of emergency
- Creation and the designation of tasks to individuals which are to be followed when
emergencies are reported
- Tracking of tasks’ status by a central manager
- Allowing/disallowing contacts to follow users
- Creation of groups that want to connect in a geographic area
The system is designed to be user driven and controlled and provides the user with all
necessary tools to do so.
