Jonathan Swift wrote Gulliver's Travels in 1727. In order to make it easier for struggling readers to read, we took the first part of the book (Voyage to Lilliput) and abridged it and rewrote it into modern English. This allows for the main ideas in the story to be retained, but the reader will experience an easier to follow the story. We created 32 beautiful original illustrations to enhance the experience.
Options are all located on EACH page:
Narrator on/off
Auto page turn on/off
Highlighting text on/off
Going to a specific chapter
Bookmark a page on/off
Repeat reading of the paragraph
Globe to switch between English and Spanish
This app uses the auditory, visual, and kinesthetic senses in order to decode the words, read easier, and learn faster. The auditory sense is supported by the narrator reading the text at a slightly slower pace, clearly pronouncing the individual words, without it becoming annoying. The reader has total control over the narration. There is an option bar on every page that allows for selection of the narrator on & off. When tapping inside the paragraph, the narrator reads it again in whatever language you have chosen.
The eReading app has 32 gorgeous original illustrations, specifically created for the Gulliver's Travel story application. These illustrations provide additional contextual clues for struggling readers, as well as provide stunning visual additions to the story. Having interesting illustrations engages the reader more, hence finding it more interesting to read.
Lastly, the kinesthetic aspect engages those people who like to touch and be involved in their reading. This app provides total control through the ability to swipe forward and backward on every page, reread a paragraph, and turn the Option bar on/off.
Although the eReading: Gulliver's Travels app. works on every generation of iTouch, iPhone, and iPad, it is optimally viewed on the iPad due to the larger viewing area.
