Exploring Multiples

‘Exploring Multiples’ is a single-screen mini-app and a place to play with the multiples of all numbers from 2 to 10. Being able to look briefly at a number and be confident that it is a multiple of certain numbers is a vitally important skill towards effective mental arithmetic.

In using this number grid 1-100, you will quickly discover that the multiples of a particular number (1) form a pattern on the grid, (2) are sometimes all even numbers or (3) sometimes alternate even and odd numbers. Recognizing and using these patterns is a helpful step towards learning multiplication facts or tables.

It is our hope that, in playing with this screen, you will (a) discover the patterns formed by selecting the multiples of a particular number, (b) learn to recite the first ten (or more) multiples from memory, and (c) use this screen as a springboard to learning your essential multiplication facts by heart.
