What is it about?

Our new name is Facebook Local! We’ve updated our events app to help you discover places and things to do recommended by friends you know and trust.

Get on board. At first launch, the app asks you to log in to your Facebook account (of course). It then takes you to a series of prompts that has you specifying the categories of events you’re interested in, setting your preferred event location, and enabling notifications to get the latest event updates.

Get caught up. Check out the home feed to see recommended happening and upcoming events based on what your friends have expressed their interest in or otherwise interacted with.

Get the deets. Tap an event to learn more about it on its details page, including its date and venue, attendees, relevant photos, and discussion posts. From there you can also set whether you’re interested in going to the event or have made up your mind to go, invite friends to the event, save the event, or copy the link to the event for sharing.

Get searching. Go to the search tab to look for a particular event; browse events happening today, tomorrow, and this week; explore nearby events on an interactive map; and browse events by category. Go to the calendar tab to see your scheduled events.
