Fingerspelling in American Sign Language (ASL) for beginners and elementary improvers

AIMS to teach the alphabet, help improve your receptive skill and can be used to improve your productive skill

Welcome to this beginners ASL fingerspelling app. Many learners feel they get plenty of practice at producing fingerspelling, but very little receptive practice. If you are a complete beginner, or doing a level one/elementary class and would like to improve your receptive skill, this app will help. To aid improvement, the tests get a little faster throughout, and names/words are as random in length as when finger spelt to you in real life settings.

Contents:
Alphabet
Tests 1-30 - Personal first names
Tests 31-35 - World countries
Tests 36-40 - World cities
Tests 41-42 - Food and drink items
Test 43 - Occupations
Test 44 - Hobbies
Test 45 - Numbers
Test 46 - Animals
Test 47 - Items of clothing
Test 48 - Family members
Test 49 - Disney characters
Test 50 - Metallic elements
Tests 51-60 - Random words
Test 61 - First and surnames
Test 62 - Famous people (First and surname)
Test 63 - Short sentences
Test 64 - Idiomatic sayings

If you don’t know the alphabet, watch it through, copying the signer. Practice until all letters feel familiar. Try spelling your name, family names, etc. Once you feel comfortable spelling yourself, start test one.
If you already know the alphabet, skip to test one. You will need a pen and paper. After each word is spelt, press pause and write it down. If you don’t catch the whole word, write down the letters you do see. Each test has a replay so you can fill in any missing words or letters. After each replay are the answers in written English. To help your productive skill, try fingerspelling each word/name yourself.
Once you have completed the whole app, why not go back and try it all again, and see how you have improved.

We aim to produce good quality learning at affordable prices. If you wish to give feedback, comments or ask any questions, please feel free to contact us at www.twinklefingers.co.uk
