Fish fraud, the practice of misleading consumers about the fish they consume in order to increase profits, has negative impact on marine conservation efforts, consumer trust, and human health. Tellspec is helping rebuild trust in the fish supply chain by developing rapid, portable, and affordable monitoring tools to test for the quality and freshness of raw white fish and the use of excess water in frozen fish.

Tellspec's Fish QC and Fraud technology helps fish retailers and distributors determine the quality and authenticity of white fish. It works on fresh, frozen, and defrosted fish, whether whole or cut. The parameters measured are fat, protein, and moisture. In frozen fish the amount of water added before freezing is also measured.

The testing is non-destructive and done on the spot, unlike testing in a laboratory, and results are received in seconds. A report in PDF format is also generated for each fish batch tested for record keeping purposes. You can also export the underlying data.
