What is it about?
Roughly 1/3 of the food we produce ends up in landfills, wasting resources used to produce that food and contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. About half of this waste comes from consumers like you and me. But there are many ways to prevent this loss even after food has left your kitchen table. The Food Waste Tracker app is a resource for individuals and organizations interested in tracking their food waste and exploring the possibility of upcycling it with help from black soldier fly larvae. While we advocate for upcycling or composting food waste and equip you with some resources to do so, this isn’t necessary for you to use the app to begin tracking your food waste.
