What is it about?

This app is to accompany the new FRESH score to help predict patient outcome after subarachnoid hemorrhage. The FRESH score predicts the expected Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) outcome at 12 months after SAH based upon 14 data points, including age, Hunt Hess grade, mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), temperature (degrees C), white blood cell count (WBC), hematocrit (Hct), sodium (Na), potassium (K), creatinine (Cr), AA gradient (if FiO2 >=50%) or PaO2 (if FiO2 <50%), arterial pH (if ABG available) or HCO3 (if ABG unavailable), and rebleed (within 48 hours). The FRESH-cog score predicts the expected cognitive outcome at 12 months after SAH with the additional data point of years of education completed by the patient (up to 24 years), and the FRESH-quol score predicts the expected quality of life outcome with the additional data point of premorbid GOS.

App Store Description

It is important to note that an accurate FRESH score requires completion of all 14 data points, an accurate FRESH-cog score requires completion of all data points for the FRESH score in addition to education in years, and an accurate FRESH-quol score requires completion of all data points for the FRESH score and the FRESH-cog score in addition to the premorbid GOS.

These scores are meant to aid providers in having discussions with patients and their families regarding predicted outcomes after subarachnoid hemorrhage, but it is not intended to change management.
