Funics with Phonics! Level 1 has 8 interactive lessons that help new readers get comfortable with the letters, their sounds, and spelling small words like 'cat' and 'dad'. Based on a combination of teaching techniques combined with the Orton-Gillingham method, Colleen Allan has created a practical method of helping students to discover the joy of reading.

Welcome to Funics with Phonics!

There are 8 lessons that guide you through the process of learning their letters, sounds, vowels, and spelling.

1. The ABC Song uses this simple but effective way to learn the alphabet through music and a sing-along.

2. My Letters uses pictures to continue with their learning of the alphabet and the sounds the letters make. You can navigate through the letters at your pace.

3. My Sounds is the alphabet without pictures that take you from the basics into really getting comfortable with your letters. You can record yourself saying the letters and then hear how you sound.

4. My Vowels introduces the 6 vowels and their sounds while matching them to the letters. As with the previous lesson you can go back and forth through the letters and try the sounds as many times as you like.

5. Mixing Letters is the alphabet in random order. This takes the letters and their sounds from memorization to recognition and recall as you transition to reading. Use the shuffle button to change the order whenever you want.

6. My Game is called 'Race the Teacher'. You and I will race around the board and take turns sounding out the letters. Each letter is recorded and played back so you can hear each letter as you go.

7. Match My Sounds is an auditory drill that has the student find the letter based on the sound. This is the opposite of the previous lessons where the young learner would say the sound associated with the letter.

8. My Words completes the set of lessons for level 1 with the spelling of simple 3 letter words. The words are randomly selected and then you write them on the chalk board.
