Geodyssey puts the geology of South Africa in the palm of your hand, with interactive geological maps to give you an immersive experience of the rocks that build our country. Explore and visit important geosites that celebrate our deep time heritage including viewpoints, outcrops, mountain passes and more!

• Fully interactive 1:1 million scale geological map of South Africa* giving you all you need to know about the rocks beneath your feet.

Simplified geological legend of South Africa
• Understand the rocks you are standing on in time and space as well as the major tectonic events that went on in South Africa when they formed.

Built-in and constantly updated glossary of geological terms
• Know the ABC’s of geology as you explore everything from alluvial fans to xenoliths.

Geosites
• Check out over 200 (and growing) geosites from around the country including viewpoints, outcrops, mountain passes, old mines, museums and geosites.
• Find out more about these geosites on the go with interactively linked pictures, brochures and publications.
• Nominate your own geosite - if there is a geosite that you hold near and dear to your heart, please let us and the world know about it!

Forge hiking trail maps
• Use Forge’s extensive library of attributed hiking trail segments embedded into the maps to find geosites on foot.

Emergency calls**
• Stuck in a rut while out and about? Call the relevant emergency services if you require emergency assistance.

Offline maps
• Download maps to use offline even without cellular connectivity.
