What is it about?

This Geriatric Depression Test is a mobile apps to evaluates symptoms of depression in elderly patients based on 15 questions of Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Depression is common in late life, affecting nearly 5 million of the 31 million. Depression is not a natural part of aging. Depression is often reversible with prompt recognition and appropriate treatment. While there are many instruments available to measure depression, the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS), first created by Yesavage, et al., has been tested and used extensively with the older population. The geriatric depression scale test is considered an ideal evaluation and monitoring tool that is easy to administer and does not require any specific training for the clinician. The test however, should not be performed as the sole diagnosis tool and should be accompanied by other means of mental status evaluation.
