Clinicians specializing in gastrointestinal (GI) disorders know it can be very difficult to understand your GI system symptoms and develop the best possible treatment program for you. About half of the patients who experience IBS symptoms also have dyspepsia symptoms. Half of the patients with IBS will change from one subtype, such as constipation-predominant IBS, to another type of IBS within one year.
Knowing what your symptoms are over a long period of time helps define the best possible treatment program. Monitoring how a treatment program affects specific GI symptoms helps adjust treatment programs.

This is why we developed this GI system monitoring app. This app helps you track, on a daily basis, your bowel habits and the GI system’s symptoms that you may experience. The system also lets you track some of the things we know have an impact on how well your GI system works. One of these things is stress. Other things are travel, diet, and medication use. Every day, the system lets you record these GI system symptoms and the things that can affect how your GI system is working.
The better and longer you record your GI system symptoms, the better your doctor can diagnose, treat, and monitor the treatment program. And you will be able to track all this as well. Together, your doctor and you can use this app to help improve your GI symptoms and your quality of life.

This app focuses on integrating many of the key GI system symptoms that your doctor can use to help you. It will only help, however, if you are willing to record your GI system symptoms every day as part of your normal routine. So we are testing the app to learn how we can make this the easiest possible experience for you.
So this first version is actually pretty simple. Some people may even say it is very much “bare bones”. We have done as much as we can to make it easy to use. This version doesn’t have much in the way of providing you with a report for your own use. We will make it part of the next version, you can be sure! It has some very impressive – we have spent a lot of time and effort on this and we’re proud of it – reports that we produce for your doctor.

We want to hear from you about what you think, what works for you, where you experience problems, and what improvements you would like to see in the next version. You can send us an email at symptracker@gmail.com. We appreciate your participating in this test. Write to us if you are having trouble, find things confusing, things don’t work like you think they should, or have other comments and suggestions.
