Gian HealthCart

The Gian HealthCart app is helping you identify in real time the right foods when grocery shopping based on your health condition and lifestyle.

Our team of experts has created a platform that uses a scientific approach for assessing healthfulness of a basket of food products that relies on nutritional guidelines set by the Institute of Medicine. Furthermore, our nutritional recommendations are personalized based on information provided by the user. The purpose of the Gian HealthCart app is to directly assist in the prevention and management of chronic conditions.

How It Works
1) Assess how healthy your shopping cart is via the HealthCart score. This goes from 0 (poor) to 100 (excellent) and is based on the nutrition content of all the food products in the cart.

2) Easily discover the following:
- Food product that might be contributing to a high level of a nutrient where you need to be low based on your chronic condition and healthier alternatives if any exist.
- Contribution by food products in the cart to a particular nutrient where you need to be low if no healthier alternatives exist. You can either decrease the quantity purchased or remove them from the cart.
- Food products that would enable you to increase intake of a specific nutrient where you are low.

3) Invite family members to a group such that you can identify for whom the food product is being purchased. This feeds into score computation by HealthCart, taking into account sharing of food products by the entire family versus being consumed by only one individual.

4) Save every shopping cart for future access. After at least 3 months of purchase history, HealthCart provides a dashboard with weekly aggregated scores and daily values that represents a trend over time. Overall shopping cart scores as well as individual nutrients can thus be conveniently monitored.

Restriction: Only food products sold online by Wegmans Food Markets are visible in the application. The prices are simply informational and may significantly vary from one store to another. These restrictions should not prevent usage of HealthCart in other stores - many items sold by Wegmans are also available in those stores and adding similar products to the shopping cart can still provide very valuable information about the healthiness of certain categories of food.
