GiveOUT Day

GiveOUT Day is a national day of giving to LGBTIQ+ projects, community groups and not-for-profit organisations. Facilitated by GiveOUT Australia, the online fundraising event is a chance for grassroots LGBTIQ+ organisations to raise their profile, increase awareness of their work, and raise much needed funds.

Despite 11% of Australians – or 2.7 million people – identifying as being of diverse sexuality, only the tiniest fraction of current grant funding is explicitly given to LGBTIQ+ projects (0.26% on average during 2013-2018). LGBTIQ+ projects are not currently well-targeted by Australian funding organisations or the philanthropy sector in general.

GiveOUT Day seeks to inspire the country to get behind rainbow causes and increase funding to the LGBTIQ+ space.

The GiveOUT Day mobile app was conceptualised by a volunteer of the GiveOUT Committee. The aim of the app is to introduce a new way of generating income as a not-for-profit organisation. It's the first of its kind in the LGBTIQ+ philanthropic space. It's designed to be used as a lifestyle app in conjunction with GiveOUT Day, which falls annually on the third Friday in October.

The GiveOUT Day app gives supporters of diversity the chance to show their pride by wearing a specially designed GiveOUT Day watch face or wallpaper. When you pay $5.99 AUD to purchase a watch face or wallpaper, the proceeds will support GiveOUT and their work to grow the GiveOUT Day platform.
