IN THE BEGINNING
The Great Midwest Football League was formed in March 2007 by Anthony McCormick with the idea of bringing respectability and professionalism back to adult amateur football in the Midwest. The Great Midwest Football League believes that with a certain kind of style and professionalism, it can change the minds of fans and sponsors about adult amateur football. Our long standing goal is to make it into a family oriented and entertaining sport which local fans, sponsors and media will not only find affordable but also appealing.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE GMFL
Members of the Great Midwest Football League have become fixtures in their communities because of its structured rules and guidelines. Members of the Great Midwest Football League are held accountable for not only the product that they put out on the field but how they display themselves to the community. Because of this, teams are now recruiting the right types of players into their organizations. Teams are also being heavily screened and evaluated by the League's board of directors before they are granted acceptance into the Great Midwest Football League. We are not looking for lazy owners or owners who are not about the development of the Great Midwest Football League therefore we will not accept just any member. We are looking for owners who understand and appreciate accountability.

OUR VIEWS ON BUSINESS HOBBIES
The Great Midwest Football League not only views adult amateur football as a hobby, but also as a business. Every team in the league serves as a business entity. Revenue, like in any business, is very important. It is also equally as important to maintain a quality product on and off the field. This is why the Great Midwest Football League believes the day’s teams popping up with poor ownership, no matching uniforms, and poor playing facilities are a thing of the past. Our standards will not change due to lack of effort on a team owner’s part.

THE GOALS OF THE GMFL
Our goal is to become the most organized, best well ran league in the country. We can only do this with the right mixture of team owners that buy into our One League, One Voice, One Family concept and put the league before their owns selfishness.

OUR COMPETITIVE NATURE
Although the Great Midwest Football League is an adult amateur league, our players are able to enjoy highly competitive games in a professional atmosphere. Players in the league range from all different skills and talent levels. Some teams have ex-division 1 college players and ex-NFL training camp players on their rosters in fact; half of the players who play in the Great Midwest Football League have some form of college football experience.

WE DO NOT PAY PLAYERS
The fact that the Great Midwest Football League does NOT pay its players or allow teams to use payment as a method of recruiting and carries an amateur status (which is why we do not allow ourselves to be called “semi-professional”; players who have college eligibility and would like to someday play college football do not have to worry about losing their college eligibility. All teams are however required to review NCAA rules and regulations before signing college eligible players to their rosters. We encourage all college eligible players to contact the NCAA Clearinghouse before signing any GMFL documents.
