GrabFM! (“Grab Food Marketing!”) is a mobile app which allows teenagers (ages 13-17) to capture images of the food and beverage advertising that targets them online and in the environment.

This research project seeks to explore where and how food and beverage marketing targets teenagers, in light of increasing marketing pressures on this age group. The primary investigator is Dr. Charlene Elliott, Professor at the University of Calgary. You can find more information about her here: www.ucalgary.ca/foodmarketing. The University of Calgary Conjoint Faculties Research Ethics Board has approved this research project.

-the app allows teens (ages 13-17) to easily capture images of food and drink marketing using their cameras or by uploading screenshots

-a simple tutorial explains how to tag and categorize the key features of the ads captured

-an image library stores all submitted ads, and allows the user to tag their favourites
