Since our beginning nearly 20 years ago, Higher Things’ mission has been to support the church in passing on the faith by teaching the next generation the Gospel of Jesus Christ: that they are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, as revealed in Scripture alone. That is what we mean by “Dare to be Lutheran!” Dare to believe this Gospel! While 2,500-3,500 youth attend our events each year, not every teenager is able to attend one of our events in person. So we also provide digital offerings that are also packed with Gospelly goodness! In this app, we deliver this Dare-to-Be-Lutheran Gospel, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for the benefit of youth, young adults, parents, pastors and church workers.

Higher Things events offer participants opportunities to gather together under the cross of Christ to receive the gifts of life, dive deeper into study of scripture and doctrine, and join together in activities meant to build fellowship amongst friends, new and old. Higher Things puts on four-day conferences directed towards high school youth at various college and university campuses each summer. We also offer regional retreats throughout the fall, winter, and spring throughout the country. These are hosted at churches or camps and span a day or two. On top of those fantastic events, we have partnered with Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca of the Iowa District East (LCMS) to host a Higher Things Confirmation Camp each summer. This event, directed towards middle school and Jr. High kids will enrich the confirmation teaching from your own congregation by diving deeper into one of the six chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism. Higher Things provides a wide variety of year-round resources for youth and those who teach them. For youth and their families, we publish the Reflections: A Daily Devotional in easily-accessible formats. There are literally hundreds of HT videos to watch, with new ones posting every weekday that focus on current events, Bible readings, theology, practice, apologetics, the catechisms…and pretty much any topic you can think of. Check out recordings from past conference worship services and sing along with your favorite hymns. You can also listen to our podcasts and the week’s videos in audio form. The Higher Things website is, itself, a wealth of resources, with articles teaching youth the Gospel and assisting youth leaders. But that’s not all! HT also has Vacation Bible School curricula, as well as multimedia, interactive Bible studies for Sunday School and youth group meetings. Subscribers to a Higher Things membership will have exclusive access to our moderated social media experience, giving youth, young adults, and their leaders a virtual space for fellowship, learning, and community throughout the year!
