HIL (India) Limited formerly known as Hindustan Insecticides Limited (HIL), a Govt. of India Enterprise, under the Deptt. of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Govt. of India, was incorporated in March, 1954 with the objective of supplying DDT for National Malaria Eradication Programme launched by the Government of India. Subsequently, the company diversified into agro pesticides to meet the requirements of agriculture sector and has grown manifold with a turnover of Rs.450.74 crores in the year 2018-19. Presently the company is also operating in agro inputs namely agro-chemicals, seeds and recently it ventured into fertilizers so that all the requirement of farming community can be met under one roof.

Presently, the quality seeds production viz. breeder, foundation and certified of various field crops has been taken up and is being produced in 10 major States of India like AP, Telangana, UP , Bihar, WB, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka and Uttrakhand. 7 Sister Hilly States in North East India, are also being supplied the seeds of improved varieties of various field crops under Seed Minikit Programme of Govt. of India. HIL’s also successfully supplementing the efforts of India Council of Agriculture Research in production of breeder seeds of improved latest Groundnut varieties mainly developed by ICRISAT, Hyderabad & BARC, Trombay. HIL has made a spectacular growth during last three years in production and marketing of quality seeds in different States
