1 in 10 horses/ponies have a laminitic episode each year, making it just as common as Colic. Laminitis is a year round problem with around 15% of all equine deaths related to the disease (Royal Veterinary College).

Laminitis can be caused in various ways, 1 of which being through comsumption of grass with high levels of non-structural carbohydrates (NSC's).

Horse Health uses your local weather conditions to provide a warning of NSC levels based on the following markers:

- Temperature (Current and recent)
- Season
- Time of day
- Pasture type
- Grass length
- Previous laminitic episodes

Also make use of the plant checker to determine if any plants in your horse's pasture are dangerous.
