This app is a reader app (singing) which is a companion app to use together with the Hyakuninisshu English Translated Karuta (poetry card game). The app is ideal to use as the reader for the card game. This reading keeps the original meter and rhythm from the traditional Japanese poems (5-7-5-7-7) which is sung, rather than read. This recording is an English translation of the original Japanese poems called Hyakuninisshu, which means one hundred poems by one hundred poets.
The game karuta is said to be an intellectual martial arts game where you need to be focused to listen well and be extremely fast to win the card being read. Over one million karuta club members compete in Japan today and karuta is spreading worldwide.
