App Store Description

I feel: Emotional Regulator has been developed as a self-regulation aid for autistic children and adults.

I Feel: Emotional Regulator allows autistic people to self-regulate by selecting how they are currently feeling and then giving the person tailor made individual strategies previously inputted.

The app has been designed for the flexibility of life. By being accessible on iPhone and iPad, I Feel:Emotional Regulator is ideal for any situation that may trigger a change in emotion for an autistic person. From the classroom to the bus, to the library or home, I Feel: Emotional Regulator can be used anywhere and anytime to promote the self regulation of emotions.

I Feel: Emotional Regulator has combined self regulation strategies with a personalised feel. By using the camera or photo library, I Feel: Emotional Regulator allows you to input personal strategies with photos or effective strategies that are specific to the person, or to use images from the internet that have been previously downloaded to the camera roll.

Designed to be used by both high and low functioning children and adults with autism to promote independence.

Allowing and promoting self-regulation without the need for intervention from a parent/carer. One example is that if an autistic person was feeling stressed, then they would learn to select the angry face. This would take the person to a personalised screen displaying a picture of the persons favourite toy or their safe space. This will prompt the individual to the specific activity that will allow them to reduce their stress and self-regulate.

An independent autistic person may be on the bus and feel nervous. If they selected the nervous face on their mobile phone it may tell them to speak to someone familiar or listen to their favourite music. This again will allow independent self-regulation and is specific to the person using the app.

Alternatively the app can be used as a place for parents or carers to collect successful strategies which are instantly available in a clear visual form.

Pictures can be inputted easily using the app so that children's specific toys or spaces can be pictured. The categories can also be changed quickly to reflect current interests or situations e.g. holiday, plane, restaurant, bus.

The development team have over 20 years of experience working with autistic people and understand the importance of developing self-regulation, self reliance, communication, and ultimately increasing independence.
