The Midwest is blessed with hundreds of diverse species of trees

Identitree Starter Kit

by Redundant Software

What is it about?

The Midwest is blessed with hundreds of diverse species of trees. It can be mind numbing to know them all, and darn right confusing to try and identify one from another. This app will not solve all of your tree ID wows, in fact it only scratches the surface. But this starter kit of 30 common trees was designed to help educators who still explore the great outdoors after the leaves fall, to inspire students to identify a hand full of tree using a dichotomous key. Once the students learn the basics characteristics to differentiate between species, the canopy is the limit J.

With this app, you can:
- Identify 30 common Midwest trees
- Follow this easy–to-use dichotomous key format, with images and a glossary to complement the descriptions
- View the history of the last dichotomous key steps
- Compare your tree to photos of twigs, buds, bark, fruit and leaves
- Check that your state is in the range of the species
- And read some interesting facts about each tree

The “identitree” was lovingly developed for Camp Joy, of Clarksville Ohio by volunteer programmers and designers at the 2013 Southwest Ohio GiveCamp
