Enviro Care Trust is dedicated to Educate, Engage and Empower people. The Trust’s Chairperson and Founder, Davinder Singh Rahal conducts seminars to raise awareness so people of the community can be educated, engaged, and empowered. This is done through a variety of resources, initiatives, discussions, and meetings to create a positive, practical, and sustainable change in the community towards the environment.
The Chairperson believes nationally and internationally that development is a necessity for survival. However, development must be carefully balanced and counterbalanced towards the needs of today as well as the future generations, so that development and the changes are sustainable.
Regardless of his busy schedule, Mr. Rahal always sets time aside to contribute to the community. His community leadership and activities in the welfare of the community, environment, and society over the past two decades have been recognised by Her Majesty, the New Zealand Government and other institutions for which he has been conferred with various prestigious awards and titles.
Mr. Rahal was bestowed with The Queen's Service Medal (QSM) for the year 2012, established by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth honoured by the Government of New Zealand. QSM is a part of the New Zealand Royal Honours system and is presented to those who exceed what is expected to serve the people of New Zealand. In 2008, he became a Justice of the Peace for New Zealand appointed by the Ministry of Justice.
Despite being active in the community for 21 years, Mr. Rahal has a revitalized energy to do even more to help the community like he has been since 2001. His renewed motivation and dedication to act for the welfare of mother nature and community through which we are all connected is where he is placing his efforts. To further his contribution to mitigate the negative impacts on the environment and climate, he has studied Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Diploma in Environmental Management.
Our efforts towards protecting our environment and climate are collective, as our actions have an immediate and direct impact on our lives. What happens in one city or country is bound to affect another as we are all part of the same world. Therefore, we must act collectively.
To further his ideology and perspective of environmental protection, he has decided to investigate imperfect food. This is food which is still edible and think what can be done for it, so it can reach those in need and simultaneously reduce food waste burden on landfills and the environment.
The upcoming project of iFood Rescue is focused on volunteers picking up and distributing surplus, harvested and cosmetically imperfect food. This project is focused on improving and creating a better understanding of food waste and its environmental impacts. Food waste creates a big carbon footprint and has negative effects on society. Through eliminating food waste, we can reduce the burden on landfills and create a better food system for everyone.
