App Store Description

This mini-thesaurus is the second edition of the very popular first Irish Thesaurus for English-speakers. Its aim is to enhance and improve expression in both the spoken and written language of native and non-native speakers. It will be of particular interest to those studying Irish in second and third-level institutions. The number of head words in this second edition has been considerably increased and includes most commonly used Gaelic vocabulary. However, in order to facilitate a wider and more comprehensive range of language, a number of less common, but nonetheless, semantically important headwords have also been introduced.

In providing English equivalents for the headwords, definitions have not been entirely restricted to those given in the Ó Dónaill Irish-English Dictionary. Although always aiming to draw from traditional language as it is used in major Gaeltacht areas, this mini-thesaurus also endeavours to reflect contemporary urban Irish as it is spoken today by Gaeilgeoirí living in Dublin or in other largely English-speaking regions.
