The app that lets you play with loops and one-offs just by tapping
Jammer
If you've always wanted to try your hand as a DJ, but didn't want to make a huge investment, this is the app for you. It lets you start out exploring loops and one-offs just by tapping.
Jam out by tapping. Jammer makes it easy to play with samples, giving you loops and one-offs that you can tap to play.
Growing store for more songs. You get three songs for free, but can purchase more from a growing collection in the app's online store.
Lengthy previews before you buy. If you're just not sure you're ready to buy a track, preview it first. You get a minute to try it out before you have to buy it.
What is it about?
You've never tried it, but heaven knows you've wanted to. You watch the DJ in the club spin tunes, skillfully mixing loops and one-offs to come up with great riffs that get the crowd wild.
For those who...
- Want to try their hand at being a DJ
- Love party mixes and chill music
Not for those who...
- Don't prefer techno music or the like Don't want to be a DJ
Why we love it
Most of the songs might not be the standard fare that you're used to hearing. Many are indie labels who have signed on with the app, so you might not be sure you will like their tunes. Fortunately, Jammer gives you a terrific length to preview each track. Tap on a song from the store, and you get a full minute to explore the loops and one-offs before you make your purchase. When the 60 seconds is up, the music will fade away and you'll be prompted to buy the track if you like it. If you don't want to buy the song, there's no pressure. Just tap "No thanks," and you'll go back to the store to look for more. For most tracks, you can even repeat your preview time an hour later. It's great fun playing around with Jammer, and seeing what you can come up with. I only wish there was a way to record your creations to play for others or yourself later. Then again, I think we can all come up with ways to do that.
