Experience art in the virtual space of KÖNIG GALERIE.

Since 2015, ST. AGNES has served as the main exhibition space of KÖNIG GALERIE. ST. AGNES is a monumental former church built in the heart of Berlin from 1964 to 1967 by German architect Werner Düttmann. Considered to be one of the most iconic examples of brutalist architecture in Germany, the building boasts massive concrete blocks and exposed surfaces that reveal the grain of the wooden formwork. The entire ST. AGNES complex, with its former community center, parish apartments, and sacristy, was redeveloped and transformed into an art space by architect Arno Brandlhuber.

SURPRISINGLY THIS RATHER WORKS by artist Manuel Rossner is a spatial intervention at ST. AGNES / KÖNIG GALERIE and at the same time a virtual extension of its exterior. The entire gallery is transformed into a gaming environment inspired by the 1990s game show "American Gladiators" and so-called gyms that are used for cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence by companies such as OpenAI in San Francisco. The visitor turns into an avatar and interacts with objects that are part of a parcours. These objects broaden the perspective on what painting and sculpture can be in the digital realm.

MESSE IN ST. AGNES takes place at KÖNIG GALERIE in the former St. Agnes church in Kreuzberg, Berlin. Over 100 works by artists such as Elmgreen & Dragset, Alicja Kwade, Neo Rauch, Daniel Richter, Isa Genzken, Martin Kippenberger, Otto Piene and Katharina Grosse are exhibited and sold at the gallery. In mid-June, ART BASEL is presenting the second edition of their fair in the format of an online viewing room. Beside the digital appearance, KÖNIG GALERIE also shows its Art Basel selection in real life in the Chapel of St. Agnes. In addition, works from the 20th and 21st century’s art history from the primary and secondary market are exhibited in the gallery’s saleroom. Selected works are shown in the virtual space of KÖNIG GALERIE.
