Asphalt Carbon Emissions Calculator and Offset

With "Offset" by Asphalt-IQ, Carbon Neutrality for asphalt works is possible today. Working in conjunction with our patented Smart A-Tags, "Offset" enables you to calculate the total CO2e footprint of your asphalt project and immediately offset those emissions before you leave the site. How? By funding science-based climate initiatives that capture or actively prevent those emissions elsewhere.

Step 1. Calculation
Traditional asphalt carbon calculation tools are very complex and there is no single international standard model. “Offset’s” Carbon Calculator is designed to be the quickest and simplest method of evaluating the emissions from road surfacing activities. The carbon emissions data and calculation algorithms used in “Offset” are sourced from several internationally recognised road infrastructure carbon calculation tools. Asphalt-IQ has aggregated the data into convenient, relevant, emissions categories and uses standard statistical analysis principles to present the carbon emissions total through “Offset”. The calculation is typically completed inside 2 minutes from opening the “Offset” App

Step 2. Neutralize the Carbon Emissions
Once calculated, “Offset” enables you to immediately neutralize the environmental impact by making a payment to fund an approved carbon abatement project. You have the choice to fund an international UN approved, Gold Standard environmental programme or, in certain locations, pay to support a local climate initiative within your own country.

Step 3. Record, Validate and Verify
Upon receipt of payment a certificate of carbon neutrality is generated and digitally attached to the Smart A-Tag. This certificate records the name of the person or organization that paid for the offset and gives details of the specific scheme which has been funded. This information can be accessed anytime in the future by simply tapping the Smart A-Tag with your phone. The road can therefore “Speak for itself”. All “Offset” transactions are stored in our secure database and are available on-demand for auditing and reporting purposes
