Lavish Travel is a coach and minibus hire service that allows passengers to book tickets online, generate QR codes for onboarding, and track the driver's location in real time. The app also assists drivers in monitoring their trips efficiently.

Why Background Location Access is Necessary?
Lavish Travel requires background location access because tracking the driver’s live location is a core functionality of the app. Without it, passengers will not be able to track their assigned driver’s location, which would make the app unusable for its intended purpose.
Key Use Cases for Background Location Access:

1. Passenger Tracking of Driver’s Location (Essential Feature)
1. Passengers rely on the app to track their assigned vehicle before and during their journey.
2. Many users minimize the app while waiting for their vehicle. Without background location access, tracking would stop when the app is in the background, resulting in a broken user experience.
3. Background location ensures that passengers receive accurate ETAs and real-time updates even when they are not actively using the app.

2. Driver Trip Monitoring (Operational Requirement)
1. The app tracks the driver’s location during arrival, departure, and throughout the journey to ensure smooth trip management.
2. This feature updates passengers and admins on trip progress, allowing for a seamless travel experience.
3. The app automatically stops location tracking once the journey is completed to avoid unnecessary background usage.

Why Foreground Location Alone is Not Sufficient?

We attempted to use only foreground location, but this caused several issues:
Passengers need to minimize the app while waiting for their ride but still expect to track their driver's real-time location.
If the app only uses foreground location, tracking stops when the app is minimized or the phone screen is off, making it impossible for passengers to monitor their ride.
Push notifications cannot replace background location tracking, as users need continuous, real-time updates.
Without background location access, passengers would have no way of tracking their ride while waiting, making the app ineffective for its intended purpose.


User Privacy & Compliance Measures

Lavish Travel is fully transparent about location usage and follows best practices for user privacy.
Explicit User Consent:
The app displays a clear in-app prompt before requesting location permissions.
Users must manually enable location tracking, and it is never activated without their consent.

Limited Location Access:
Location tracking is only active during an ongoing trip and automatically stops once the journey is completed.
The app does not track users or drivers when no trip is in progress.

Privacy Policy Compliance:
The privacy policy clearly states how location data is collected, used, and stored.
We do not share or sell user location data to third parties.
The privacy policy link is correctly updated in the Play Console.

Battery Optimization Considerations:
The app minimizes background location usage to ensure it does not drain battery excessively.
