You can select the word in alphabetical order (English meanings) by clicking “Word” in the menu bar. Basic everyday Burmese words!

The Burmese language is spoken as a first language by 33 million people, and as a second language by 10 million people. It is a tonal language like Chinese or Thai. The Burmese language, Chinese and Tibetan are related, belong to the same language family.

The country is known as either "Burma" or "Myanmar". Both names are derived from the name of the majority Burmese Bamar ethnic group. Myanmar is considered to be the literary form of the name of the group, while Burma is derived from "Bamar", the colloquial form of the group's name.
