Take the word "使" (shi3). It's definition includes meaning such as to make, to cause, to enable, to use, to employ, messenger, etc.

Instead of "使" (shi3), our app will give you "天使" (tian1shi3) which has one meaning only: angel. Learning these bigrams first can be a great tool in understanding the general meaning of the individual character.
