App Store Description

The Let’s Talk iPad app is an ideal tool to instantly trigger and encourage enjoyable, fun conversations and wellbeing between young and old. Developed by reminiscence, life story and dementia communication specialists manyhappyreturns.org, Let’s Talk focuses on people’s happy experiences of their everyday lives in the 1940s and 1950s.

KEY FEATURES

Six cards from each decade illustrate and describe what ordinary life was like 60 or 70 years ago. Conversational prompts provide lots of opportunities for encouraging storytelling, with all the benefits these shared experiences bring to everyone.

The card subjects are based on the stories of over 120 people who were young during the ‘40s and ‘50s and include topics like Sundays, smoking, staying warm in winter and the weekly wash. Let’s Talk is enhanced by lots of visual hints and tips for talking with people from an older generation like listening, body language and eye contact, why early memories are so important to older people and how we can make our conversations with them more engaging and connected.

The complete sets of twenty six ‘40s and ‘50s printed A5 cards are available from the online shop at manyhappyreturns.org. The Let’s Talk App is also available on the NHS App Stores.
