*Why use Lighthouse?*

The Internet is crammed with opportunities for learning, but in just a few clicks, kids can stray into more sinister domains. Lighthouse is a great way to give your child the freedom to discover, but at the same time steer clear of inappropriate content and unsafe online spaces.

*Does Lighthouse only work when browsing the web?*

No, that’s what sets us apart from other blockers. Lighthouse is also able to moderate and block images and content within apps. There are however some apps which are encrypted, and we are unable to censor these because of the way the security of the app is set up. These apps include WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger. We are actively working on increasing the number of apps Lighthouse will work with.

*My child uses my phone/ tablet, can I still use Lighthouse?*

Yes, you can. When setting up your child’s profile, you are able to specify whether the child will be using your device, or a device of their own.

*Does the Lighthouse app use data while running in the background?*

While monitoring in the background, the Lighthouse app will not use any additional data on the parent’s device or child’s device.

*Can my child disable the app on their phone?*

If the app is disabled or tampered with in any way you will receive a notification via the parental app indicating that the status of the connection with your child’s device has been altered.

*Am I able to decide what my child sees, and what they don’t?*

Yes, Lighthouse allows you to adjust the filter level from low to high, setting the filters according to what you think is inappropriate. We also notify you when your child is requesting permission to see a blocked image or site. You can view the blocked content first from the parent app, and make the call whether or not they should be permitted access.

*How much does it cost to use Lighthouse?*

Lighthouse costs $6.99 per month when you opt for the monthly billing option. You can save 21% by choosing the yearly billing option, paying a once-off price of $65.99. This price allows you to add up to three devices to your account.
