What is it about?
Lookahead is one of the most essential tools used in drilling project which describes the expected activities while drilling a well say in 6 days, 12 days, 18 days from today or at any day. Some Engineers follow 7, 14 and 21 days routine. This forms the basis for operations team as well as the service providers to effectively plan for the logistics of mobilizing equipment and materials for the future activities in time (not too early or not too late) including transportation by road, vessels and personnel movement through choppers/vessels. Further ,the Look Ahead is also used by interfacing disciplines like subsurface, facilities and production to understand and plan their own activities to integrate with that of drilling. The management team uses the Look Ahead to understand the progress and well status whenever needed.
