App Store Description

LWL Museum Henrichshütte

Everything’s new in Hattingen:
How does the blast furnace work? How was pig iron made? What is special about the Bessemer steelworks? What is “industrial nature”?
The app from the LWL Henrichshütte Museum is dedicated to these and many other questions.

With the new museum app from the LWL Museum Henrichshütte Hattingen, the museum grounds and many exhibitions can be explored interactively and in your own unique way. With one of our digital guided tours, visitors can learn about four circular routes and other special exhibitions available to visitors.
A variety of topics are waiting to be discovered. The focus is on iron, steel and industrial culture, as well as nature and ecology.

The blast furnace is impressive – it towers 55 metres high and is 80 years old: the oldest blast furnace at the Henrichshütte in Hattingen. At its peak, 10,000 people worked in the factory near the Ruhr. Delve into the fascinating world of relics from the smelting era, marvel at massive gas machines, enjoy the panoramic view from the blast furnace and visit our special foundry open to the public in the Bessemer steelworks, where metal flows again today.

The app offers visitors a new level of interactive experience.

The highlight is the game entitled “Mit der Ratte durchs Revier”, in which children, young people and families can follow the virtual blue rat around the museum grounds and solve exciting puzzles along the way. There are not only interesting facts about iron to learn, but also mini-games, videos and spectacular pictures.
The game is offered in four languages: German, English, Dutch and Turkish.

Further virtual tours, as well as special exhibitions, are gradually being created, so there is something new to discover with every visit.

Visitors have the opportunity to individualise their experience according to their interests and needs:
Choose content in your language!
Choose easy language or audio description!
Choose your own tour, depending on the theme!
Use the guided routes and barrier-free paths!
Use the interfaces to social media!
Use the app at home too!

In the app, you will find all the necessary information for your visit – such as opening hours, events, directions and admission prices.
